The cashew nut processing industry is an important driver of economic development in Senegal, Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. The Lifft Cashew project plays a key role in developing this sector, focusing on innovation, building local capacity and access to international markets.
Senegal: A transformation in full swing
In regions such as Casamance and Kolda, Senegal is a major producer of cashew nuts. The processing industry is emerging, driven by local initiatives to produce value-added items. Through Lifft Cashew, technical training and support to access global markets enables processors to maximize their potential.
Gambia: Opportunities for SMEs
Although the Gambia has an ancient tradition of growing cashew nuts, the processing sector remains underdeveloped. The Lifft Cashew project supports small businesses through technical support and encourages the creation of SMEs. With a growing demand for processed products, the country is gradually positioning itself in the value chain.
Guinea-Bissau: Unlocking untapped potential
Guinea-Bissau, one of the largest producers of cashew in Africa, suffers from a lack of infrastructure for processing. Lifft Cashew is addressing this by improving equipment and training workers to develop their skills. These efforts are aimed at transforming the country’s position from a gross exporter to a supplier of processed products.
A project at the heart of sustainable development
The Lifft Cashew project is not just about improving production techniques. It also strengthens the autonomy of producers, facilitates their insertion in the international market and supports the creation of local value. By supporting the development of modern infrastructure and stimulating SMEs, it contributes to sustainable economic growth in the region.
Today, work with financial institutions to increase financial services for nut producers and processors, work with financial institutions (microfinance institution, bank), Merchants and Exporters helped improve access to financial services by $207,577,164. However, 17 processors were financed with $3.00, $975,000 and $4,000, a public private investment mobilized by investors for cashew processing
With such initiatives, Senegal, the Gambia and Guinea-Bissau can assert themselves as major players in the world market for processed cashew.
