As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance productivity and improve the quality of cashew cultivation in the SeGaBi region, Shelter For Life International (SFL) has launched an initiative aimed at empowering local farmers in the face of climate change. Through the agriculture component of the LIFFT Cashew project, SFL is providing substantial support to partner cooperatives by distributing 42 tons of organic fertilizer and 50,000 grafted cashew seedlings.

This initiative is designed to promote the intensification and sustainability of cashew production, a key crop for local economies, while addressing the environmental challenges affecting agriculture in the region. The grafted seedlings and organic fertilizers are expected to significantly boost yield quality and productivity, ensuring long-term benefits for farmers.

The AJAC LUKAAL and FAMVI cooperatives received these critical agricultural inputs during a formal handover ceremony. The event, which took place in the presence of local authorities from the municipalities of Boutoupa and Simbandi, representatives from Water and Forests, village chiefs, and members of the press, marks a pivotal step in strengthening the resilience of cashew producers in SeGaBi.

Shelter For Life is committed to supporting these cooperatives and their members as they work towards sustainable agricultural practices and improved livelihoods. By fostering cooperation among farmers and local institutions, SFL aims to help communities adapt to changing environmental conditions and secure a more prosperous future.
